Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen has confirmed Yan Valery is likely to feature against Stockport County this weekend. The defender picked up a knee knock in last weekend's goalless draw with Wigan Athletic at Hillsborough.
Pedersen said Valery trained well this week. "He has looked good in the training, so it's positive, very positive," the manager told reporters.
Al-Hamadi assessed amid international duty
Forward Ali Al-Hamadi, on loan from Ipswich Town, has a slight foot issue and will be assessed on Saturday morning. "Ali had some challenges with his foot and he will need an assessment tomorrow and then we'll find out what's happened," Pedersen said. Al-Hamadi has also been named in Iraq's squad for the Arabian Gulf Cup, which starts on September 23.
Squad loanee rules and injury updates
Sheffield Wednesday have six loan players but can only name five in a match-day squad. Defender Sil Swinkels continues his recovery from a hamstring injury sustained in the Carabao Cup tie against Wolves in late August. He is expected to rejoin training after the upcoming international break.
The league leaders, who sit top of League One with 13 points from six games, host eighth-placed Stockport County on Saturday. Top scorer J. Lowe has four goals this season. Al-Hamadi's fitness will be determined on Saturday morning ahead of the match.
