Sheffield Wednesday have launched a new community partnership with Mercia Northridge School in Sheffield. The initiative will provide pupils with new sporting opportunities and experiences, including tickets to attend a match at Hillsborough.
Ben Winter, the Deputy Head of Community at Sheffield Wednesday, said the club is proud to be part of the local community. "Sheffield Wednesday is proud to be part of the Sheffield community, and working with local schools is an important part of what we do," Winter said.
Joanna Crewe, the Headteacher of Mercia Northridge School, welcomed the partnership. "We’re delighted to be working with Sheffield Wednesday and to be able to bring these experiences to our pupils," Crewe said. The school, located in Parson Cross, will hold an open day for families on Thursday, September 17 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
As part of the launch, Sheffield Wednesday presented a signed shirt to the school. The partnership forms part of the club's wider community programme and Mercia Northridge's commitment to an enriching education.
The news comes as the first-team squad sits top of League One with 13 points from six games. Their recent form includes three wins, one draw and one loss from their last five matches. The full squad list for the season ahead is available on the squad page.
