Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen has spoken about the future of defender Yan Valery, who has been on the books at Hillsborough since the summer of 2024. The 27-year-old has been a dependable figure for the Owls, but spent the second half of last season on loan at Young Boys in Switzerland.

Pedersen has not confirmed Valery will be staying, but has not said the defender will definitely be moving on either. He told The Star: “We had a dialogue with Yan about this and here we have a very respectful relationship in this. There is no doubt that Yan is a strong player and there is no doubt that we can also see Yan stay at Sheffield Wednesday.
Why it matters for Sheffield Wednesday
Many would argue Valery is a cut above League One level and it would therefore be a significant boost for Wednesday if he was to stick around. The defender returned to the fold to feature in last week’s 1-0 Carabao Cup win over Bolton Wanderers.
