Sheffield Wednesday's Goalkeeping Strengthening
Sheffield Wednesday have continued their summer transfer activity by signing Connal Trueman as their tenth new arrival this season. The goalkeeper, born in Birmingham and aged 30, has joined the club after leaving MK Dons at the end of last season.
Trueman will be competing with Joe Lumley for the starting position between the posts. Lumley signed a two-year deal earlier this month, adding experience to the Owls' goalkeeping options. Trueman's one-year contract with an option for another year suggests he may be seen as cover or a potential long-term addition.
Background and Experience
Trueman started his career at Birmingham City, where he spent 15 years before being released in 2022. He then joined Millwall on loan, making 13 appearances before signing permanently with the club. His time at St Andrew's included loan spells to AFC Wimbledon, Swindon Town, and Oxford United.
During his tenure at MK Dons, Trueman made seven appearances in all competitions during the 2025-26 season, which saw the team promoted from League Two. He was primarily a backup for Craig MacGillivray but will now provide competition to Lumley at Sheffield Wednesday.
