Sheffield Wednesday secured a 2-1 away victory over Salford City in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night. Davis Keillor-Dunn and Jamal Lowe scored second-half goals to overturn a first-half deficit and extend the team's unbeaten run to five matches.
Ben Woodburn gave the hosts the lead after 34 minutes, finishing an assist from Ryan Graydon. Sheffield Wednesday responded after the break, with Keillor-Dunn levelling the score ten minutes into the second half. Joel Akpobi provided the pass for the equaliser.
The decisive moment came with 13 minutes remaining. Jamal Lowe stepped up to convert a penalty, securing the three points for the visitors. Lowe now has four goals in seven appearances this season.
Manager H. Pedersen made four changes to his side as the game progressed, starting in a 4-3-2-1 formation. Key substitutions included Gabriel Otegbayo and W. Mcpartland coming on after 61 minutes, followed by Lowe and Callum Slattery entering the fray seven minutes later.
Despite having only 42 percent possession and being outshot 19 to five, Sheffield Wednesday matched Salford's seven shots on target. Goalkeeper A. Maynard-Brewer made six saves to preserve the lead.
The result keeps Sheffield Wednesday second in the League One table, one point behind leaders Bradford with 14 points from seven games. Their recent form reads three wins and two draws from their last five outings.
Pedersen's side now turn their attention back to the league. Their next fixture is away at Stevenage on Saturday.
