Bradford City have completed the signing of former Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson on an initial one-year deal. Dawson will provide senior competition for Jon McCracken following the departure of Sam Walker, who sealed his move to Championship outfit Watford on Wednesday evening.

Dawson will be in City's squad for Saturday's League One opener at home to Peterborough United ahead of a Hillsborough return in seven days time when the Bantams face Wednesday in a Yorkshire derby. The experienced keeper, who boasts almost 200 EFL appearances to his name, came through the Owls academy and has been promoted from the lower divisions with both Wednesday and Exeter City.

Dawson's other former clubs include Plymouth Argyle, Wycombe Wanderers and Chesterfield. Dawson, who has become City's eighth signing of the close season, said: “I am delighted. Having seen the size of the football club and the stadium, knowing what this club means to the community, I am really happy to be here. "The club has everything it needs to have, with everyone pulling in the right direction. With the good group of players we have, hopefully it continues.” City boss Graham Alexander added: “Cameron is a keeper we have looked at previously and know quite well. "He is determined to show his skill set with us and alongside Jon, we will have a very trustworthy and competitive goalkeeping department."
