Sheffield Wednesday will face West Brom in a behind-closed-doors friendly at St George's Park on July 11. The match is part of the Owls' preparations for the new EFL season. This will be the second meeting between the two teams this year, after Wednesday won 2-1 at home in the final match of the previous season. The Owls had a dismal campaign that ended with them bottom of the table and zero points after an 18-point deduction for severe financial mismanagement. West Brom, on the other hand, secured Championship survival the previous weekend despite being docked two points for breaching profit and sustainability rules. The Baggies had James Morrison as their manager until the end of the season in early March, but he has since been appointed permanent boss after masterminding the escape from the drop. Morrison is now preparing for his first pre-season in management. The Owls' players are due back later this month, with the West Brom game one of several warm-up fixtures. The only other confirmed match is a trip to League One Peterborough on August 1, kick-off 3pm, a week before the new season begins with the first round of the Carabao Cup.
